About Dr. Pysher Cox

Amanda Pysher Cox, MD, is the Medical Director for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery at Reston Hospital Center. She is committed to helping her patients lead healthier, higher-quality lives with expert surgeries. At the Surgical Consultants of Northern Virginia in Reston, Virginia, Dr. Pysher Cox specializes in bariatric and metabolic surgery, as well as minimally invasive and robotic surgery techniques. 

Amanda Pysher Cox, MD graduated with her Bachelor of Science in biology from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. She worked as a nursing assistant in the ambulatory surgery unit of a local hospital during her undergraduate studies, which strengthened her passion for surgery.  

Amanda Pysher Cox, MD went on to complete her Doctor of Medicine and serve her general surgery residency at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. She also completed rigorous fellowship training in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. Dr. Pysher Cox has also earned fellowship certification from the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons. She also completed a da Vinci® robotic equivalency certification.

Outside of her surgical practice, Dr. Pysher Cox enjoys spending time with her friends, family, and beloved Boxer puppy, Barkley.
